About

The martyrs' cemetery contains three graves dating back to different dates (1740, 1748, and 1805). It has been determined that the three graves belong to members of the religious and military who lived in the settlement outside Yenikale. The cemetery also contains an inscription bearing the signature of Abdulhamid II and the Ottoman coat of arms. It has been determined that the inscription was erected in memory of the Turkish soldiers who were martyred during the bombardment by the Allied fleet on March 5, 1915. It is believed that the martyrs mentioned in the inscription may have been buried in the tangerine garden outside the walls surrounding Narlıdere Martyrs' Cemetery.
