About
Bayındır Arıkbaşı Station Martyrs' Cemetery was established in 1935 at Bayındır Arıkbaşı Station in memory of 18 citizens who were martyred there and in honour of their sacred memories. On 4 September 1922, a Greek unit, defeated in the Great Offensive, set 20 people from the village of Çırpı on fire alive at Arıkbaşı Station. Among them, 18 people were martyred, including one who was shot while trying to escape by Greek soldiers.
On the monument located in this martyrs' cemetery, it is written "1935 for the 10 citizens burned by the enemy in the War of Independence on 04.09.1922."
The martyrs' cemetery was renovated by Bayındır Municipality on 14 August 2021.
