About

Located in the Hacımemiş neighborhood of Alaçatı, Çeşme district, it was built in 1933 to commemorate our soldiers martyred in the War of Independence. The name Mustafa Çılgın is inscribed on the monument. There are no martyrs' graves around the cemetery or the monument. A red star and crescent is inscribed on a cylindrical marble column. It reads, "THE HEROIC MARTYRS WHO RESCUED THE PEOPLE OF ALAÇATI FROM CAPTURE, SEPTEMBER 15, 1922."

The martyrs' memorial, built in memory of Mustafa Çılgın and Ahmet Olsinop, who were martyred fighting against the enemy during the War of Independence, is constructed entirely of marble. It stands on a podium accessed by two steps and features a five-tiered, high-base column with an inscription. The top of the column is cut obliquely, and a star and crescent motif is carved into this section.
